Volunteers with Alaska Trails worked alongside Youth Employment in Parks crews to clear and build beginner and intermediate mountain bike trails in north Russian Jack Springs Park near the Polar Bear Park. The trails are designed for all types of users, including BMX and dirt jump bikes. Trails are separate from existing Nordic ski trails. Professional trail builder Happy Trails began work in the Fall of 2023 and made the final improvements in summer of 2024.
Two Volunteer events – July 5th and Sept. 30th 2023 totaled 122 volunteer hours, which equal $3,823 in volunteer labor.
Thank you to everyone involved, especially Alaska Trails!
