Potter Rabbit Roubaix

Potter Rabbit Roubaix is live for registration!

What is Potter Rabbit Roubaix? It’s a mixed surface race on the Anchorage Hillside, connecting Potter Valley Rd, via some hare-raising detours, to Gasline.

The course packs around 3000 feet of climbing into roughly 23 miles, so its predominantly uphill, but there are also plenty of breaks over flat and downhill terrain where you can almost catch your breath. It’s a challenging parcours, and like Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit, you may find yourself gasping for a way out of Mr. MacGregor’s garden (Bear Valley) and sick for the sandy bank leading to home (Gasline). Also like Peter, you may find yourself going to bed early, but as Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-Tail sup on milk and blackberries, you will sleep soundly in the knowledge that you ain’t no caged bunny.

The course includes several sections of dirt/gravel, with potholes and other lovely obstacles. While it is possible to complete the course on a road bike with road tires, this will not be the best option for racing. A cross or gravel bike with tires 30 mm and up will be the safer bet. You can use any bike you want except a TT bike (although if did complete the course on one of these, you would deserve a special prize, hypothetically), and part of the fun of these kinds of races is figuring out what works and what doesn’t.

Expect the race to take between 1 and 2 hours depending on fitness level, ability, and gear choice.

The race will be mass start. The race will spread out very quickly, as the course goes straight up Potter Valley Rd. We had planned to change this but construction projects had other plans.

Cost is $25. You need to be an ABC member to participate, so if you have not renewed your membership, please do so.

Registration will be online only, and will close at 5pm on Wednesday, 29th.
