DESCRIPTION:Summer is going by fast so come join us for the August Coed Cheese and Crackers ride. Once again\, we will be doing something a bit different\, and riding the Mirror Lake trails. This is a great network of trails developed by the Chugach Mountain Bike Riders. It is primarily singletrack trails\, so a well maintained mountain bike is needed. Depending upon the group size we will likely split into two groups based on comfort/effort levels. And the final leg will be from the Devil’s Pass Trailhead back to Hope\, where you’ll finish on Main Street among a cheering crowd of your biggest fans!  \nThe finisher’s party will continue until the last person crosses the finish line\, and includes complimentary burgers and brew!  \nNew this year…We have t-shirts\, designed by the race committee! DESCRIPTION:Summer is going by fast so come join us for the July Coed Cheese and Crackers ride. We are doing something different this month\, with a trail ride out to Green Lake on Powerline Pass. It is about 4.5 miles to the lake on a modest uphill grade but nothing crazy. This is a mountain bike ride is for all ability levels\, and is a low-stress\, high-fun event.  \nIf the weather allows\, we will bring the cheese and crackers out to the lake for socializing and then ride mostly downhill back to the parking lot.Best guess is that we’d be done around 9 pm or so.  \nWhere: Glen Alps Trailhead (Flattop)\nMEET AT THE LOWER PARKING LOT.\nThe one past the ranger house.  \nWhen: Thursday\, July 24 at 6:30 pm\nPlease arrive by 6:15 pm to sign waivers.\nWhat to bring: A helmet\, abike\, and dress for the weather. \nDOGS: While we love dogs\, we ask that you please leave them at home. DESCRIPTION:Four exciting stages over as many days.  \nThis year’s Tour starts with the industrial flats of north downtown for some fast and furious circuit action. Proceedings shift Thursday to the beautiful Elmendorf circuit\, taking advantage of the newly paved airfield bypass to reunite this classic loop. Friday returns to short circuit racing\, as we zip around the punchy Kincaid course in a time+lap format. Saturday finishes things off with rolling out-and-back laps on scenic Old Knik Rd. Drinks and food at the finish at Raven’s Perch lodge \nWed. 7/23 – Viking Circuit Race 7pm\nThurs. 7/24 – Elmendorf Road Race 7pm\nFri. 7/25 – Kincaid Circuit Race 7pm\nSatu. 7/26 – Old Knik Road Race 12pm \nRace\nThe series cost is $120. Individual stages are $35/ea. \nRegistration will be online only\, and important race day details will be communicated through email\, the website\, and to individual racers at check-in.

SUMMARY:Government Peak Enduro & Chainbreaker XC 2025
DESCRIPTION:Welcome back to our 4th Annual Government Peak Enduro and Chainbreaker XC Races!  \nWe are back again and will be racing in two different formats throughout the day on Saturday\, July 19th. We will offer both XC short track and Enduro formats. If you are unfamiliar\, here is the break down: \nEnduro:\nAn Enduro consists of 3 to 5 timed stages which take place on technically demanding and generally downhill terrain. These stages are linked by predominantly climbing “transfer” stages. Although the transfer stages are not timed or part of the race itself\, there will be a time limit to complete them. Not to be confused with “endurance” racing\, though some stamina is definitely required.\nPLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE REGISTERING!!!! \nThe “Expert” categories WILL BE RIDING THE “GNARSKI AND HUCKS” TRAIL. There will be ride-arounds for the gap jumps and drops\, but these trails are true “black diamond” trails and significant hazards will still exist. The Intermediate categories will be skipping “Gnarski n’ Hucks” and will ride “Valley Thrash” instead. The course utilizes multiple trails that have a “black diamond” difficulty rating\, therefore there is no class for beginners. If you do not feel comfortable riding the “black diamond” rated trails at GPRA then this event is not for you; please consider racing the Chainbreaker XC race instead. You are strongly encouraged to pre-ride these trails before the event. This year’s course will consist of 4-5 timed stages\, and will be about 10 miles long with approximately 2000 vertical feet of climbing. Stages will be long\, and your dropper post may go up and down once or twice. \nThis year’s event will be chip-timed by Strabel Racing Services for accuracy. Registration will be capped at 75 riders and the price of registration will go up to $50 during the last week of registration. Any proceeds from the event will go towards building and maintaining our trail systems. Awards will be given to 1st-3rd Place in each category. \nMandatory Rider’s meeting 2:30\, Race starts at 3:00.\nCategories are:\nWomen’s Intermediate\nWomen’s Expert\nMens/Open Intermediate\nMens/Open Expert \nTHERE IS NO CATEGORY FOR BEGINNERS DUE TO THE CHALLENGING NATURE OF THE COURSE!!! \nChainbreaker XC short track race:\nThe Government Peak Chainbreaker Mountain Bike Race is back\, and this year we will be offering awards for 1st-3rd for both boys and girls in the youth races.There are a few changes to age groups for this years races. WE WILL NO LONGER BE OFFERING THE 15-17 YEAR OLD CATEGORY due to lack of attendance. Riders 16 and over are encouraged to race the adult category or the Enduro. The Chainbreaker is a cross country mountain bike race that will take riders around a challenging and exciting course at Government Peak Recreation Area. This event will take place in the morning before our Government Peak Enduro in the afternoon. Slots are somewhat limited with a cap of 30 riders per category. Cost of registration will go up the week prior to the event so be sure to sign up early. We are also offering event T-shirts this year! They will be available at the time of sign ups\, and limited quantities will be available on the day of the race. so be sure to register early! \nTimes will be forthcoming\, but we will start with the youngest groups first.\n9 and under: Boys and girls will be on course at the same though will be scored separately.
